about

Our dear friend Mick Hall passed away in April 2013. We shared a common passion for music. Actually, that's a lie. Music was the blood which coursed through our veins. Jason and I thought it would be a good idea to trawl through his musical output to share his unique talent with the people who loved him (and those who had the misfortune of not knowing him).

We listened to 60 of his songs made since 2008 and made a selection of his best tracks so we could release the CD Mick always dreamed of releasing. Mick was a total perfectionist and his own worst critic. He always felt he didn't live up to his and other people's expectations. Listening to his songs, however, we realised he couldn't have been more wrong.

To be honest, even we were shocked by just how special his music sounds. It is not just hyperbole when we say that this collection of songs measures up to masterpieces that are held in high esteem worldwide. We were only half-joking when we said to each other that Mick could become posthumously famous with this album. Actually, it's not a joke at all. He deserves to be heard by a global audience. There is genius here.

These songs have a rawness, intimacy and honesty that is startling and heartbreaking. We decided to leave the songs in their original form because the imperfections just made them even more beautiful.

We know that so many people are hurting right now. However, Mick's life and talents should be celebrated and screamed from the mountain tops. It was impossible not to love the guy to pieces. He was charming, intelligent and shockingly good looking. His greatest gift though was to touch those who he came across and make them feel special. He made you feel so special that any hardship the world threw at you did not seem to matter.

He collected beautiful people and brought them into contact with each other. We were all loose molecules who were made into something whole by the magic of his personality. That's a pretty rare gift.

I feel that Mick is still with all of us and will serve as an inspiration to carry on living, honouring his memory. I also feel that if he were to see the outpouring of love that greeted his death and the awe that we know you are going to feel listening to his music, that he would finally realise what a spectacular success his life really was.

We love you Mick forever and ever and ever and ever....
